Experienced journalist, lecturer, performance coach and broadcaster, who won Best Sports Presenter at the 2013 and 2015 Asian Television Awards for his work out in Singapore and India, where he anchored live Premier League, FA Cup, European and international football on Mediacorp, Eleven Sports Network, SingTel TV and Sony TEN.

Lecturing

Since 2018, Richard has worked as a lecturer at St Mary’s University in Twickenham, primarily on the sports journalism Masters, but also on various undergraduate programmes including Entrepreneurial Journalism, Sports Journalism & Media Relations, and Sports Marketing Campaign. He also runs the Multimedia Football Journalism MA at UCFB Wembley, and supervises dissertation students. In 2023, Richard was awarded the Walpole Prize for excellence in teaching at St Mary’s for providing a platform for students to excel in real world, authentic learning environments.

Coaching and Mentoring

He has a Masters degree in Education, majoring in Coaching and Mentoring, and actively works with young people, aged 18 to 35, to help them become the best version of themselves, whether that’s in education, sports performance or in the workplace. The core foundation of his performance coaching work is to nurture a growth mindset in clients and help them develop self-awareness, resilience and confidence in order to give them the best opportunity of achieving their goals.

Between 2010 and 2018, Richard worked primarily as a TV presenter, initially in the UK and then in Asia. As well as anchoring live Premier League and international football on Eleven Sports, SingTel and Mediacorp in Singapore, and Sony TV in India, he hosted all 64 games of the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups, 19 consecutive days of 2015 South East Asia Games coverage, and all 51 matches of Euro 2016.
